Once they start teething how long is it until the first teeth actually come through?
My son is 4 months and 1 week old. He's been teething since 3 months. I've been able to see the 2 nubs on his bottom gums for awhile now and his teething is getting progressively worse, yet no sign of the teeth coming through at all. How much longer will it be until these teeth pop through? He's so grumpy and I just wish he would feel better!

- My child started teething at 3 months as well - It took until 5 months until I saw teeth and by 6 months..wow..It helps if you brush their teeth with a baby toothbrush - eases the pain - And my dentist told me to use the anbesol...no need to keep the baby in pain.
- I think it just depends. My daughter is 4 months on the 19th of this month and just cut her first tooth. She began teething at 8 weeks. I think it just depends. Now she has two more teeth coming in. I hope it's much quicker. You might give him something to help him cut it. I wish I could tell you right away but babies are so different when it comes to milestones and development. It should be soon though no matter how you go about it.
- you'll probably know when he bites your nipple
- its different for all babies my daughter is 10 1/2 months and still teething (since about 2 months) and still has no teeth they say the later they come in the healthier they are
- It could be months. My daughter was 4 months when we noticed them right under the gums. She was grumpy and had red cheeks on and off but didn't actually cut through until she was 7 months old. Then again it might be really soon. They are all different. Good luck
- My daughter started teething at 4 months and I didn't see a tooth unti well into 6 months. I could see the white underneath the gum, but it seemed like it took forever to finally break through. Once I saw a black line, like a thread, that meant the next day, the tooth was through. I know it seems like forever, and I don't want to lie to you. It can take a few months for them to come through. Tylonel works. If you want to go all natural, try Humphreys teething pills. There is another brand just like it. Go to any Wild Oats or Whole Foods and they will have homeopathic teething pills that work.
- Unfortunately it could be a while. My daughter is now 8 months, she has been actively teething since she was 4.5 months old -- and her first tooth as barely cracked the surface -- though we can see 6 more just under the gumline. My oldest started teething at 7 months didn't get a single tooth until a year and then got 4 at once.
- I honestly think it depends on the child, because my son's teeth came out early but my cousin's son teeth took longer to come out and there the same age. I understand how you feel, so just try to keep some baby oral gel and a frozen teething ring around to help out.
- He will feel better soon, dont worry. I have 4 kids I dont remember the exact time but I think if they teeth at 4 months it comes by 6 months and they should have a more by 9 months. My kids likes the teething cookies but they break and can be a hazard, I also used frozen wash rags in a bag, they thaw nicely and dont get to hard. I heard rave reviews for teething tablets sold by rite aid. Keep him busy so he'll ignore them some, and tylonol at bed if he's in alot of pain. hope this helps
- My baby's took months to break through. I finally got one of those finger toothbrushes from Gerber and "brushed" her gums with it every day. She loved it. She would really bite down on it and it would relieve some of the pain in her gums. I think it also toughened up her gums somewhat because after her first tooth finally broke, the other ones came in fairly easy. It's also good, because we've made a habit of brushing her teeth. The toothbrush comes with tooth and gum cleanser that they can swallow.
