Vomits

Is it common to have trouble/stop breathing while vomiting?

I don't vomit often but when I do I tend to find myself unable to breath. I half to force my body to stop vomiting (which is a battle within itself) to allow myself to try to breath. I end up gasping for air and hicupping. It is painful to say the least and it scares me. I am afraid that one day I will vomit for some reason and just stop breathing all together. I have severe asthma and I suffer from chronic broncitis, could there be contributing factors?

1. I know this is not one of those helpful reassuring answers, but i feel and think exactly the same as you!! Its a scary thought to think that you could choke on your on sick...but im sure the body will stop before it chokes up your lungs:S..Well as i said, im not a doctor and this wasnt a helpful reassuring answer but it was just to let you know that i feel the same
