What tablets can be taken to stop vomiting in early pregnancy?

My wife is vomiting for almost 90 days, she was tested pregnancy positive , she was advised by doctor not to take strong tablets because it might cause abortion. Please can you advise me on which drugs she should take to completely stop the vomiting?

  1. No tablets helped with me. Bland food, ice cold ginger ale and string cheese. That and whatever I thought I could get down is what I would go get. No matter what it was (besides alcohol and other things you have to avoid lol).
  2. I dont know anything about tablets but I have heard WONDERFUL things about these lollipops http://www.threelollies.com/ I know it sounds weird but they supposedly work so well that hospitals use them for patients on chemotherapy. I recently sent some to a friend in chemo and her mother said they do help.
  3. She should take prenatal vitamins, first of all. Then, you should talk to the doctor about what else to take. Most can prescribe a B6 vitamin supplement, which HELPS relieve nausea...not necessarily cure it. Plus there are nifty little lollipops now called Preggie Pops. She might like those :)
  4. Ask your doctor if she can take Promethazine. It's a pill you take once every 6 hours as needed for nausea and vomiting. I was prescribed this late in pregnancy at 7 months.
  5. Vomitting then can be a tough one to counteract. She needs to adjust how she eats then, with small meals more often.Instead of full ones. I would suggest what a dr. told me when I expected my first one. I got very nauseous sometimes so she said to have stuff with dextrose, maltodextrin and /or sucrose in it. This really helped ALOT as she explained that this ingredient affects the blood sugar level and can also help lower the nausea reaction then in this in turn. I tried it thinking what have I got to lose, It worked. NO MORE nausea, so no more vomitting then. I found this in snack stuff like chewy runts, sweettarts, chewy spree candies, but you can look up what foods have dextrose in them and look for those items in the grocery store. Just make sure the dextrose is high on the list of ingredients listed on the back of the package. They list the ingredients in order of how much in an item and goes down the list on this as to how little after.
  6. im not sure what it is called but my doc gave me a prescription and it really helped
  7. I have three children and am currently pregnant. I have vomited from conception to delivery for all four pregnancies. There are a couple different medications out there. First off, prenatal vitamins usually have a lot of iron which can increase nausea and vomitting so maybe she could try premisis. It is a prenatal vitamin that has lower iron levels but still all the other nutrients. Also there is phenegren, which comes in a pill and a suppository. Which I know suppositories don't sound fun but if she is vomitting all the time she may not be able to keep a pill down. My saving grace has been a med called Zofran ODT. It is a dissolvable tablet so it hits her blood stream without going through her stomach. It is used for chemo patients to help stop their nauseau. These are both prescriptioan medications but if she is losing weight and probly getting dehydrated you shouldn't have a problem finding a doc to prescribe them. I have had two different ob docs and both felt comfortable with me taking them due to my severe morning sickness. Good luck and I hope she feels better.
